I can’t decide if this will be a series or not, but welcome to my first round of recent green beauty empties! The March 2018 edition.
Recent Green Beauty Empties
I haven’t done an ’empties’ post before, even though I used to post my monthly Beauty Faves more regularly. But when I tossed out two empty containers of two holy grail products yesterday, I knew I wanted to tell you about them.
I like telling you about new products I’ve found or things I use on the daily. But what people often want to know is what I’ve used to the very last drop. The stuff that’s so good, you cry just a little bit when you run out. Oh? Maybe that’s just me?
One Love Organics Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo Powder
I have two favorite dry shampoos. This one from One Love Organics is one of them. I couldn’t get enough of this dry shampoo and used it until the very last fleck of powder was gone.
BUT! As I was writing this post, I realized that it’s been discontinued. Oh no! So rather than leave you high and dry {with shampoo…}, I’ll link to my other favorite dry shampoo instead. It’s this one. Thankfully I still have a little bit of that one left so it’s not quite empty yet!
And, I’ll add: if you can find one of the last bottles of the One Love Organics Dry Shampoo floating around out there, nab it while you still can!
Tammy Fender Intensive Repair Balm
Confession: I didn’t want to buy this at first because it’s pricey. But it’s goooood. Like scraping the jar, lick the bowl kind of good.
Except I would never lick skincare out of a jar. Ew. You know what I mean.
This winter, my skin kind of freaked out on me. And I didn’t know what to do. Enter Tammy Fender’s Intensive Repair Balm.
On Follain’s site, they list this product as an “anti-inflammatory wonder-worker.” And boy is it.
It turns out I am allergic to the detergent my yoga/barre studio uses to wash their towels. And I was rubbing those towels on my face every day. Not a great sitch for my face. It was flaking like crazy and was so absurdly dry, it was like sandpaper. But, I started using this balm regularly and my skin cleared up in no time.
I know it’s called a balm but it’s really more like a lotion. It has a thin consistency that glides right into your skin. It also layers really well under makeup, which is what I’ve been doing with it. I’ve also been applying it at night underneath a thicker balm before bed.
The additional piece of good news is that you can buy a smaller jar (it comes in two sizes) and it’s not as rough on the ol’ pocketbook. (Does anyone say pocketbook anymore? Asking for a friend.)
This balm has become one of my all-time favorite skincare products and I use it every day, as I mentioned above. So despite the price tag, I will definitely be repurchasing it. And, if I add up all the money I’ve spent on products that haven’t worked for me, that total is a lot more than this product.
As usual, I have no incentive for broadcasting my love for these two bad boys, I just want to share what I’ve been loving (and using up!) with you!
Questions? Are there other products you’re curious about?
Hey Crunchy Kat! Love these recos. Also the mention of dry shampoo reminded me of a question I had for you: what is your thought on how clean/pure Aveda products are? I recently went to the most AMAZING Aveda salon and now I’m really tempted to buy their hair products. Have you used them before? Are they really as natural as they say they are? Are they any good?
Hey! Great question. In full disclosure, I go to an Aveda salon in Clarendon. But I don’t have any of their (Aveda) products at home. You can look up each individual product here since the safety of each one varies. I think they’re all really effective but they’re likely not as clean as they claim to be. Aveda’s founder launched a newer line pretty recently, Intelligent Nutrients, which is really good! I don’t know if all the Aveda salons carry it but mine does and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a product from this line. I’ve bought at least one of their products before and it was great!
