This past week, I was with my family in Northern Michigan. Since going to college in Grand Rapids, my family has always wanted to go “Up North” and rent a house near Lake Michigan. After putting it off for a few years, we finally committed to the trip.
We found a house on Crooked Lake in Oden and the location couldn’t have been more perfect. We were close to Petoskey as well as Harbor Springs. We fell in love with Harbor Springs; it’s such a cute town right on the water. We were also a short drive from Mackinac Island. The house we rented had plenty of bedrooms and overlooked Crooked Lake.
You may not know this, but Northern Michigan is the “Cherry Capital of the World.” I practically ate my weight in fresh cherries while we were there! We spent one morning picking cherries and also stopped at one of the many roadside stands to pick up a few more. “You can never have too many cherries!” – me
